Entrepreneurs are born, not made in extremis because they’re dipsticks who can’t stand their bosses. But that, of course, is where Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudekis) and Dale (Day) are coming from in director Sean Anders’s Horrible Bosses 2 with their brave new Shower Buddy, a time-slashing device designed by the guys as their ticket out of the working stiff’s shark net and into the commercial American dream. Or maybe not. When they’re double-crossed at the starting gate by a slimy distributor (Waltz as Bert Hanson) and left in a $500,000 hole, the new game plan is to kidnap Hanson’s capricious son, Rex (Pine), for a hefty ransom.

Obviously, this is a dumb idea. And there’s plenty more where it came from, all the better for the LA Three to sharpen their clowning skills with the iffy assistance of Rex and a little help from former associates Dr Julia Harris (Aniston), Dean “MF” Jones (Foxx) and the dreaded Dave Harken (Spacey), now in the slammer but no more subdued for that. From the hyper look of them, the blabbing lads are loving every minute. And why not, when it’s playtime all the time?
